      Definitely. It doesn’t feel like a job but more of a full time hobby that I get paid for. Plus I get to travel and meet lots of interesting people from all over the world.

      yeah I do! my job is slightly different to the others in the subatomic zone as I work on the funding side of things (for the STFC), not as a researcher. I was in research for a while when I was doing my PhD but then I decided to change direction and move into the funding & policy area. It’s really interesting, because it means I get to see across the whole range of all the super-duper research that’s going on out there. And obviously there’s only a certain amount of money to go round and we have to choose where best to spend the money (so it does get a bit heated from time to time!), but it’s all about making sure we’ve got the right advice as to who to give money, weighing up the options and making a decision on the basis of the available information. No-one’s ever perfect but we try to do our best.

      Yeah, I love it. It’s great because every day is different. And you get to do all sorts of interesting and unusual things (like I’m A Scientist!).

      Yep love what I do, new challenges every day and a great place to work, and fantastic people to work with. What more could I want 🙂
