I hate there effect of the environment, but they are a really great way to get around. I do try to use the train (Eurostar) whenever possible though, although its much slower 🙁

i dislike all the messing around you have to do when you fly, and airports are nasty. if i travel for pleasure i prefer train or driving. for work it’s usually unavoidable though, we always consider whether our journey is essential. last year, i went to the US, Italy and Germany – and they were all really useful trips.

I love them – I get to catch up on movies I missed at the cinema and raid the tuck shop on my 12 1/2 hour flights to and from Japan. Plus they take you to interesting places.

I only travel by plane if it’s really necessary because of the effect on the environment and the time it takes going through airports. So sometimes I do videoconferences or phone conferences instead of travelling to a meeting for work. Our lives and culture would be very different without planes, it’s hard to imagine a world without them.

I love aeroplanes themselves. They’re so graceful and amazing the way they glide through the air.

I spend a lot of my spare time building and flying model gliders. I love the way that they just float up on warm air – it’s like magic.

I try not to travel by plane if possible though, because I don’t like all the faff, and it’s terrible for the environment.
