• Question: Do you think you are a mad scientist or are you still sane at the moment??

      What is sanity?What is normal? Everyone has their own strange habits and I am no different, but I think I am still firmly in reality… just. Science is a way of thinking, very logical and measured. So I don’t think the idea of a mad scientist doesn’t really exist in reality as madness suggests all logic goes out the window which in turn would make the person very unscientific. I prefer the term strange scientist, but as I said no one person can claim to be normal – we are strange in our own way.

      After that answer maybe I am a little mad….

      I agree with Ben that science is very much a process of a rational mind. There’s certainly been some eccentric scientists and perhaps you need a few characters like that to be creative enough to have insights no-one else has had before. But there has to be some logic to it all.

      I’m definitely not mad. I know that because the imaginary talking horse that follows me round everywhere told me that I’m not.
