I use Windows on my laptop and lab computer, and Linux on our servers.

Couldn’t say one is better than the other: Linux is great for servers, and Windows is good if you want compatibilty with weird drivers for unusual lab equipment! Mac OS is great if you want to look swanky in coffee shops.

      hi thefreakyfox,

I use Windows on my laptop and Linux for all our servers, However we try to make our software support everything including Macs.

Mac OSX and Linux. We use a special flavour of Linux in particle physics called Scientific Linux, it is based on Red Hat but has many special features written by guys at CERN in Switzerland and Fermilab in the US.

I like Mac OSX the best as I get all the functionality of GUI based windows with the flexibility of the Unix shell underneath – win win.
