I still don’t feel like I am a scientist – I feel like I have just been lucky to continue doing the stuff I have found interesting at each stage of my life. I guess I am one though…

I didn’t really notice when it happened to be honest, You just drift into it as Ben says by doing the things that you enjoy. I had the option of being a software engineer or a software scientist when I got my current job, and chose scientist without hesitation, so I guess that shows I feel proud to be a scientist.

I can remember when I first went to uni to do physics, and other students would refer to me & my fellow students as physicists. I’d never had that sort of label attached to me before, and I remember it feeling strange and slightly cool, probably cos I looked up to ‘real’ physicists with such admiration.
