• Question: what causing lightening??????

      Hi zafei001,

      I seem to remember its something to do with static electricity build up in clouds, which then earths to the ground.

      Nobody knows exactly, but people think that it’s the clouds rubbing together.

      It’s just like when you rub you feet on a dry carpet, or a balloon on your hair: it builds up static electricity.

      So as the clouds rub together they build up more an more static electricity until … zap!
