there’s no widget that i can point to and say i invented that. but i design particle accelerators, so i can point at a machine and say that i had a major part in making that happen

Every day we have to be inventive, writing computer code to do something unique or solve problems we have on our experiment.

But… I also get to be creative outside of my research and I think the most fun thing I have invented is LEGO Physics! IWe use LEGO to teach particle and nuclear physics and it is the most fun I have had talking particle physics. LEGO + physics = fun.

Aside from this I am also quite proud of some of the analyses I have written for analysing data from my experiment – using artificial neural networks and other interesting techniques.

Nothing really in the Wallace and Gromit sense!
but yeah, you do need to be inventive and creative in science (and in life!) – you come up against little problems and big problems all the time and then you have to try to figure out a way round them.

      Hi chiarna

Ive written various bits of software, but the biggest project im involved with is the GDA which can be found at http://www.opengda.org Its a big Java project for helping with collecting and analyzing experimental data.
