Has to be the Large Hadron Collider. Might as well pick the biggest, most technically advanced thing humans have ever built!

A particle accelerator. We can use energetic particles from these machines to probe the creation of the Universe, basic forces of Nature, the biological tissue that we are made from or even the structure of crystals – to name but a few. Particle accelerators also play a role in areas of medicine, used by imaging machines or as cancer treatment.

Lasers! There’s something so fascinating about a laser beam. Even though I’ve used lasers every day in my research for the past 13 years, I still find them amazing and stop to play with them at least every week!
