Goes back at least 4000 years.

The Bessemer process was the first way to mass-produce steel and had a major part in the industrial revolution – establishing Sheffield as a major production centre

      Hi nerd101,

I used to do Kendo, and so I absolutely love the Katana samurai sword. It makes fantastic use of steel, both high carbon (hard for keeping a viciously sharp edge) and low carbon steel (flexible to absorb impacts and avoid the blade shattering) bringing out the best of both.
