It is quite a tough career path, but then again, if you want to get good at something, anything then it’s tough. A nice thing about physics is it gives you lots of options. A physics degree lets you do lots of different jobs both inside and outside of science. Employers really value physicists because they are good at solving problems and being numerate.

There wasn’t really a “why” as to why I got in to physics. I just did what seemed interesting at the time and ended up in physics 🙂

I went into physics because it interested me more than anything else. If physics is what you would love to do, I’d say go for it! Yeah it’s hard work (but isn’t anything that’s really worth doing??). There are loads of jobs out there for numerate analytical people, so even if you don’t stay in physics research there are still lots of options open to you.

Yeah, similar reason to the others, I did it cause I enjoyed it and wanted to know more. It is tough but if you enjoy something it makes it easier. Once your in though your pretty much set for life, there are far fewer Physicists than are needed.
